The graph shows a number of people who contracted X disease between the years 1960-1990. The major trend is a peak 500 people in 1975-1980 (inclusive), followed by a dramatic fall to 0 in 1990.
  • 1960-1965: flat -remains steady
  • 1965-1975: rise- significant
  • 1975-1980: levels off
  • 1980-1990: the numbers plummet
-So, thankfully, we can see that by 1990 the disease was eradicated.

The graph shows the incidence of x disease in someland in the years 1983 to 1992. You can observe the major trend, which is a peak of 400 plus people in 1989, followed by a rapid fall to zero, starting in 1990 and ending in 1992.
  • 1983-85: steady
  • 1985-87: slow rise
  • 1987-88: rapid drop (a dip)
  • 1988-1989: a major increase
  • 1989-1991: levels off
  • 1991-1992: drops significantly

...As you can clearly see, the major trend is a convergence of the figures between men and women as time progresses.

VOCABULARY
contracted: caught.
eradicated: completely removed
tangible: something you can touch [intangible] noun
prevalent: to become more common.
prevail: to win against a challenge.
converge : things move together [diverge] nouns: convergence / divergence
narrate: to explain what happens as it happens (live) // he gave me a good narrative of the game
sparingly: not to use something sparingly: my friend uses toothpaste sparingly
judicious: jury / being careful or thoughtful - considering beforehand
microcosm: a small, self-contained example of something bigger.

        -noun: a judicious act
        -verb: to act judiciously

“more or less”: ‘89 - 91 - “The figure levels off, more or less, between 1989 and 1991.
